JAKE EFFECT

Jacob Love was a dedicated member of the Troy High School Bands.  He was the center snare and drum section leader of Troy High School's Marching Band who had a boundless enthusiasm for music.  Jake passed away in 2009 at the age of 18 after a nine-month battle with Aplastic Anemia.

Throughout his life, Jake inspired many people - family, friends, fellow band members, doctors and nurses - by living a lifestyle of "quiet courage, inspiration, and the need to live, laugh and love every day."  The Jake Effect Fund was established to help pass along this inspiration.

Jake Effect Fund

The Jake Effect Fund provides an annual scholarship for a Troy High School band student to further his or her musical education.  The recipient of the Jacob Love scholarship will be chosen on the basis of need and a demonstration of the qualities and character that Jake exemplified.  Please visit the Troy Colt Bands Awards Page for Jake Effect Scholarship past recipients.

Jake Effect Fundraising

There are several opportunities to help grow the Jake Effect Fund.

  • Bowling for the Band!  Our annual December get-together includes bowling, pizza and pop.  You'll enjoy 3 games of bowling, shoe rental, pop and all the pizza you can eat - all for just $20 per person. With that, a portion goes to The Jake Effect Fund.  For this year event information and to register please click here.

  • Merchandise! Orange was Jake's favorite color. The orange Jake Effect Bracelet and T-shirt are a great reminder of how Jake chose to live his life. To order a Jake Effect Bracelet or t-shirt, click here! The bracelet and the T will also be available during this year Bowling for the Band event.
